Circular engr. by Philips Galle (1537-1612), diameter 25.7 cm, the 5th engr. from the series of 6 depicting the history of Samson, numb. 5 in the plate, publ. by Theodorus Galle (1571-1633). Good impression on paper w. unidentified watermark, w. very wide, square margins. Central vertical fold, sl. creased and minor other imperfections. Hollstein 16, the 2nd state (of 3). (2) 'Triumphal wagon with Superbia, the personification of arrogance'. Engr. by Cornelis Cort (1533-78), 22 x 29.5 cm, from the series of 9 prints Circulus Vicissitudinis Rerum Humanarum, publ. by Hieronymus Cock (1518-70). Good impression. Remnant of former mount on left upper corner verso, a few thin spots. Hollstein 149, probably the 3rd state (of 3).
