G.B. Jones. Rare first edition

New York, Feature and Instituting Contemporary Idea, 1994. Staple bound softcover, 28 x 21.5 cm, 60 pp. Super scarce first edition, as most copies were seized and burned by the Canadian Border Services on the charge of depicting pornographic content.

The monograph was published as the seventh issue of Farm (Hudson’s publication for Feature Inc.) and the eighth issue of The Gentlewomen of California (by Steve Lafreniere). It presents an extensive reproduction of Jones' well-known 'Tom Girls' drawings alongside film posters, video stills, record covers, comics and texts by Dennis Cooper, Vaginal Davis and several others. Very good copy. G.B. Jones (1965, Canada) is an artist, filmmaker, musician, and publisher of zines such as the Toronto-based queer punk zine J.D.s that she ran with Bruce LaBruce. Her iconic drawing series 'Tom Girls' reimagines Tom of Finland’s drawings by replacing the hyper masculine studs with tough leather dykes.
