Cecilia Vicuna, A Journal of Objects for the Chilean Resistance

London, Artists Meeting Place (AMP), 1974. Announcement card for an exhibition at AMP, from 21 to 28 July 1974. Mimeo printed b/w on thick white stock, 12.5 x 16 cm. The exhibition formed the closure of a project Vicuna started in June 1973 as a protest to the military dictatorship in Chile. She decided to make one object every day in support of the Chilean revolutionary process. Four hundred objects, constructed from debris collected in the streets of London, were exhibited at AMP. The invitation card is extremely rare, no records found, but it is detected as part of the AMP installation, mounted on the wall. (See p.189 of the Witte de With publication on Cecilia Vicuna, the image is 5 mm but recognizable).

(2) Added is AMP News, Festival Edition No.2, 29 August 1974, London, 1974. 42 x 29.5 cm, folded in 8. It features information about the space and also mentions upcoming events in support of the Chilean Resistance, organized by Artists for Democracy, co-founded by Vicuna. (with David Medalla a.o). One of the events was an Arts Festival for Democracy in Chile at the Royal College of Art in London in 1974, coordinated by Cecilia Vicuna. (total 2)
