Johan van Oldenbarnevelt (1547-1619). Manuscript document
Document in pen on vellum, signed "Van Oldenbarnevelt", 15.5 x 31 cm, dated "IX Augustij XV achtennegentig" (?), about "drie morgen landts gelegen inde ambachte van Maeslant", under passepartout.
Lacks the wax seal. Intriguing manuscript, mentioning Jan Lenaertsz, most probably Jan Lenaertsz van de Vennecool (or Fenacolius, 1577-1645), friend of Van Oldenbarnevelt and preacher in Maeslantsluis (Maasluis), that still belonged to Maeslant at the time. Autographs by Van Oldenbarnevelt are exceedingly rare, the close connection between Van Oldenbarnevelt and Fenacolius might be the reason Van Oldenbarnevelt handled this notarial deed himself.
