[Germany] Emden Shipper's Guild coin
Silver. 18th cent. (1741?). Front w. ship in full sail, reads "ISS Clements Broederschap tot Emden", founded 1497. Reverse w. crossed anchors, key and pickhooks. 69 mm. Most likely for a guild leader.
One of only two copies of this coin known to have been auctioned over the past 125 years. This particular copy was auctioned at Schulman in Amsterdam in the early 1950s. Sl. worn at edges, a remarkable well-preserved copy.
