[Italy] Delitiae urbis Romae

Dat is. Eygentlycke Beschrivinge van alle de schoone gebouwen van paleysen, kercken, bruggen pyramiden, die binnen en buyten Romen te sien syn. Alles met schoone figueren afgebeelt. Hier is noch by gevoecht een dialogue oft tsamensprekinge, daer uut men lichtelick, de Italiaensche spraeck, by sich selven can leeren. Mede wat gelt in Italien kackbaer is. Amst., Harmens Janssen Brouwer, 1625, (3),1-35; 38-41; 40-59 lvs., title within rich engr. allegorical border, 1 full-p. and 29 (almost) full-p. engr. ills., 18th cent. hcalf w. mor letterpiece on spine, obl. sm. 8vo.

Mispaginated as indicated, but quires (A-P4) complete, occas. cut sl. short, a bit soiled and partly vaguely waterst., some smaller imperfections, covers w. vague folds and sl. worn along extremities. Nice, early travel guide description, here in an extremely rare Dutch adaptation (only 1 copy in NCC and just 1 other copy traced in libraries worldwide), of the Latin original, published by D. Custodi in Augsburg in the Jubilee year 1600. From leaf 40 onward, it contains dialogues between Dutchmen, translated into Italian, helping travellers to learn a bit of Italian.
