stanley brouwn's iconic series This Way Brouwn is made up of doodles drawn by passers-by whom brouwn asked for directions in Amsterdam's city centre. The artist then appropriated the itineraries by stamping them with the title of the series. The photos taken by Igno Cuypers during the performance in 1964 are rare documents. In the preface Harry Ruhé states that brouwn asked the photographer to shoot several street performances 'sometime in 1964', taking 2 or 3 days. One of the pictures was used for the invitation for brouwn's exhibition at Galerie Orez in The Hague in 1965.
