A.R.Penck, Zeichen als Zeichen als Verstaendigung - Buecher und Bilder
(Signs as Communication - Books and Pictures). Krefeld, Museum Haus Lange, 1971. Artists' book, published as a catalogue supplement on occasion of Penck's first solo exhibition in a museum. Loose leaves with four punched ring binder holes (as issued), 30 x 21 cm. Contains 56 sheets with colour printed silkscreens on heavy card stock, three sheets with text by Paul Wember, and one sheet listing the exhibited works.
The silkscreens were printed after the originals in Penck's sketchbooks No.7 and No.27. Included is an extra copy of the (blue) silkscreened announcement sheet for the exhibition. Museum Haus Lange produced signature catalogues for all their exhibitions in this format, the loose-leaf collection could be purchased individually or be inserted in specially designed ringbinders. This very early Penck publication is in very fine, near mint condition.
