Former owner's entry upper flyleaf (Cornelis Kloppenburg, Amst.), dated 29 Dec. 1849, a few (contemp.) marginal annotations. Occas. foxing/ browning as usual, frontisp. cut sl. short, affecting publ. name (but not the image), a few sm. tears. Rochefort was the pastor of the French Protestant Church in Rotterdam, and he lived for some years in the West Indies. This work was intended to encourage emigration of the Huguenots to Florida. It is a very thorough account of both the natural history and the peoples of the Caribbean.
