Bruce Nauman, Documenta 4 statement, 1968

Original Xerox (or photocopy of that time), 30 x 21 cm, featuring a typewritten and handwritten text by Bruce Nauman which was pinned to the wall of his exhibition space at Documenta 4, in response to the fact that his works were still unpacked while the press conference at the opening had already started.

The note reads 'Dear Documenta – If you have not time to install these pieces properly, you may leave them exactly as they are and with or without the tittles also on the propper pieces or not and you may leave this note or a neater copy or take it away. Thank you – Bruce Nauman'. On verso are four sketches in blue pen (by unknown author). The sheet comes in the original postmarked envelope of Kunsthalle Dusseldorf addressed to the director of the Kunstmuseum Basel, folded once for mailing purposes. Rare document in fine condition.
