uit liefde en deugd als op den zelfden stam geënt. On voit dans cette estampe en Paul et Virginie (...). Ca. 1860. Contemp. handcol. print w. 16 woodcuts w. captions in Dutch and French. 42 x 32.5 cm. Centre fold, some sm. tears in blank margins. The print's story is set in the French colony Île-de-France, now Mauritius. Paul and Virginie illegally take a runaway female slave home, then take her back to her master, who punishes her, fearing a revolt of his slaves; Paul defends the slave. -and 4 others on the story of Robinson Crusoe, the humorous story of Marius Castolade and Ménélick (in Abyssinia, now Ethiopia), "De twee blinden van Trebizonde" and a story about Sinbad the sailor.
