Collection of 22 propaganda flyers, instructive booklets, posters, a poster stamp, cards, typescript instructions (by J.C. Notebaart) etc., issued by the Departement van Opvoeding, Kunsten en Wetenschappen afdeling Analphabetisme-Bestrijding, 1948. Very rare collection of booklets on illiteracy issued during the so-called "politionele acties", actually cruel major military offensives undertaken by the Netherlands against the Republic of Indonesia during its struggle for independence during the Indonesian National Revolution (1945-1949). The most notable items are 2 col. posters (53 x 38 and 50 x 65 cm, folded) showing chained books w. keys.
