Founded in Newark, New Jersey as a corner pharmacy by Gerhard Heinrich Mennen in 1878, the Mennen Company grew to be one of the most recognizable names in personal care products in America by the mid 20th century. Mennen also was an early pioneer of mass advertising for branded products, as evidenced by this extensive collection. He distributed informative pamphlets, picture cards and lithographed bookmarks to retailers to include with every purchase. The company was bought by Colgate-Palmolive in 1992, ending over a century family ownership. (total approx. 225 in 1 album)
