Remarkably clean, fine copy w. few defects. A doctor and botanist, the Italian Prospero Alpini (1553-1617) traveled to Cairo and published his research on Egyptian medicine in 1591. In it, he expounds on the practices of bloodletting and cauterization, among other topics. The first edition contained the first known account of the coffee plant published in Europe. Bondt's work looks into tropical diseases and medicinal plants.
