Hungarian artist Judit Keele (1944-) investigated the notion of the art object and experimented with exhibiting herself as an artwork in a 1979-84 series titled 'I’m the Work of Art'. In a project for the Paris Biennale of 1980 she went a step further and auctioned herself off as a piece of art. She married the highest bidder and settled in Paris.
