*Von Kuehnelt-Leddihn was an Austrian (and American after the Anschluss) journalist, linguist, novelist, encyclopaedist, political scientist and theologian. He declared himself an extreme liberal and often argued that majority rule in democracies was a threat to individual liberties. He opposed all forms of totalitarianism, but did support what he defined as "non-democratic republics", such as Switzerland and the early United States.
