[Medieval manuscripts] Two leaves from the Latin vulgate lectern bible, Otto Ege Manuscript 14

Made in France, late 13th or early 14th century, vellum, approx. 40.5 x 27.2 cm, 2 columns w. 50 lines, w. fine col. pen work border ornaments and initials heightened w. gold.

Tape remnants in upper blank margin from former frame and a few tiny wormholes in upper blank corner. Both in fine condition. Otto F. Ege (1888-1951) was a teacher, lecturer, bookseller and famous "biblio-clast". He is best known for his 40 unique compilation boxes, each w. different leaves from the same 50 illuminated medieval manuscripts. The boxes all included a leaf taken from the book that our leaves were also was taken from, and in these 40 boxes, they were positioned as number 14, hence the name Otto Ege Manuscript 14. The present leaves almost certainly do not come from one of those boxes, but are most likely other loose leaves resulting from the destruction of the original book. (total 2)
