[Sri Lanka] Korte beschryving van Adams, en Evaas graf, en graf-zark
Letterpress broadside w. text signed Christiaan Hansz below central engraving depicting Adam's mountain at Mulkirigala and inscriptions found there, total size 62 x 43 cm, Middelburg, M. Schrijver, ca. 1730.
In mediocre condition, w. (repaired) tears, folds and stains and sm. portions lacking. Extremely rare broadside, not in Landwehr, V.O.C. *The European occupiers of Sri Lanka (named Ceylon at the time) believed that the tombs of Adam and Eve were located at the place now known as Mulkirigala (or Mulgirigala). The mentioned author of the text Christiaan Hansz is probably the German author Christoph Langhansz who was employed by the V.O.C. and published Neue Ost-Indische Reise in 1705, also giving an account of Ceylon.
