[Comic figurines] Becassine. Metal doll by Bucherer

Switzerland, ca. 1925, 19.5 cm. Painted iron w. all ball-joints in good working order, fully dressed. Some signs of ages like flakes in the paint and sm. holes in the cloth, but in good condition. A fine example of a high-quality doll by the Spielwarenfabrik August Bucherer Amriswil (SABA). Added: another Becassine doll made of cloth.

From 1921 to 1930, the A. Bucherer and Cie Company was known for producing dolls. Switzerland's innovation and inventive strides in the early 20th Century established it as a global frontrunner in the fields of clock and watch technology, as well as music boxes, among other areas. This expertise and technological advancement were also applied to the creation of intricately articulated dolls. These dolls featured interchangeable heads, hands, and feet made from a plaster composite material. Even head accessories like hats were molded. (total 2)
