Beautifully illustrated works depicting the rites and rituals of various beliefs but also costumes, deities, etc. The work deals with religious practices in Asia, Africa, North and South America and Europe, including Judaism, Islam, Catholicism, Greek Orthodox, and the various forms of Protestantism, as well as orders of chivalry and the inquisition. Despite condemnation by the Catholic church, the work was a resounding success. (total 9)
