Plateelbakkerij De Distel was a Dutch pottery factory founded in 1895 by Jacobus M. Lob, and it was located in Amsterdam. Lob focused on the production of art pottery and hired visual artists to design and paint his products. The pieces were designed by a.o. Bert Nienhuis and Willem van Norden, often in Art Nouveau and Art Deco styles. Productions included tile tableaus of a.o. the Concertgebouwbuurt in Amsterdam and the former Hotel Polen. We have one item produced by De Distel in this auction, see the section of glasswork and ceramics. (1 binder)
