Evans earned acclaim for his portrayal of the harsh living conditions and rural life during the Great Depression, especially in the American South. In 1936, he joined forces with James Agee to author 'Let Us Now Praise Famous Men', chronicling the lives of farming families in Alabama. It is possible that this image was included in the documentation for this work.
