Gualdo Priorato (1606-1678) abandoned a successful military career and dedicated himself to history. This publication on the history of the seven united provinces of 'The Netherlands' devotes specific attention to the city of Amsterdam (pages 119-158) and includes paragraphs on the cities' storage of guns and ammunition ('L'Arsenale') and its fortifications.
