Kathe Burkhart (b. 1958) is a multidisciplinary artist and writer based in New York and Amsterdam. She uses various techniques including collage, painting, digital media, photography, video recordings, and sculpture. Her work engages with themes such as gender roles, sexual politics, female dominance, and celebrity status. In the renown Liz Taylor Series (ongoing since 1982), Liz Taylor acts both as post-feminist icon and the artist’s alter ego, pairing images of the movie star with profane texts.
