[Batavia. Sri Lanka] Eleven letters in pen concerning the Van Qualbergh, Van Schinne(n) and Chasteleijn families

Anno 1705', 'Batavia den 1 Junij 1811' and 'Batavia 27 julij 1818', 1-8 p., folio and 4to size (the 1811 and 1818 letters).

Folds as expected; in very fine condition. A most intriguing family letter archive, comprising a.o. letters by Magdalena Chasteleijn 'weduwe van M. Huysman' addressed to 'Magdalena van Qualbergen and D. Mr. Isaäc Van Schienen' (Isaac van Schinne, see elsewhere in this auction), to Henryetta van Qualberge by Magdalena Chasteleijn, to Isaacq van Schinne and Magdalena Adriaena van Qualbergh by Ferdinand de Groot, Hendrietta Susanna and Magdalena Huijsman, to Henrietta Chasteleijn by a member of the Huysman family (the letter written in Jassanapatnam, Ceylon (Sri Lanka), 1694), to Isaac van Schinne and Emma van Qualbergh by a member of the Chasteleijn family and Anna de Haan, etc. A quote from the letter written in Jassapatnam: 'Niet tegenstaende ik soo ongeluckig ben geen antwoordt vanne d'ontvanger vn. mijn brieve (...) van ao. 89 Batavia en ao. 90 van Colombo, aannegesz: Zoo kan ik egter niet nalaten nu met dese wijnige regte komen besoeken, en begroeten, en daer bij te zeggen dat ik met aengenaeme van mijn waerde oom (...) Van Soelen, en mijn waerde moeder hebbe vernomen (...).' (total 11)
