Wheatley's inventive fictional publications were construed as "crime dossiers", providing pieces of "evidence" and clues (i.e. envelopes, police photographs, police memos, newspaper clippings, letters, etc.) that enable the reader to solve the crime. 4 in English, 2 in Dutch. Incl. Murder off Miami (3 copies, incl. 1st ed, 1930, and 1 in facsimile), Who Killed Robert Prentice? (1st ed., 1937) and De Malinsay Tragedie. Added: 3 other similar "crime dossier" publications, incl. a later ed. of File on Rufus Ray by Helen Reilly.
