China, two albumen prints showing executions

Both late 19th cent. (1) Image depicting a man preparing to execute another in Shanghai. 21 x 27 cm. Handwritten note in pencil verso. (2) 'Execution at Kowloon [Hong Kong], in 1891' (titled in the negative). 19.5 x 26 cm. Handwritten note stating that the image is one of the pirates about to be executed. Both tipped-in under passepartouts.
