[Elzevir Press] De Laet, Johannes. De Imperio Magni Mogolis sive India Vera Comm. E. variis auct. congestus
Leiden, Elsevier, 1631. 1st ed., 2nd printing. (12),299,(17) p. Engr. frontisp. by Corn. Cl. Duysend. Cont. overlapping vellum w. manuscript title on spine. 24mo.
Stamp in red on upper flyleaf. Very good copy. This work was compiled using various sources, including unpublished VOC archives (archives of the Dutch Indies Company). It is a precious description of India, particularly interesting for its descriptions of the northwestern part of the country, and the work is probably the first attempt to provide a systematic account of the Mughal Empire for Western readers.
