First edition of Heinsius' account of the siege of 's-Hertogenbosch in 1629 by Frederick Henry, Prince of Orange. Haitsma Mulier/ Van der Lem 215b; Willems 351. Bound with: (2) Hugo, H. Obsidio Bredana armis Philippi IIII. Auspiciis Isabellae ductu Ambr. Spinolae perfecta. Edition secunda. Antwerp, Ex Officina Plantiniana, 1629, (8),129,(1) p., w. engr. title by C. Galle, 6 double-p. and 6 full-p. maps, plans and plates, 2 ills. in the text. Library stamps on title-p. and ex libris on upper pastedowns (partly scratched away). Palau 116732; Judson and Van de Velde 55; Matagne H-135. The first edition was published in 1626. Fine convolute w. annotation in pen on upper pastedown: "De la bibliothèque de feu Mr. Milan-Visconti à Utrecht, en Novemb. 1782". This is Gisbert Franco Baron de Milan-Visconto (1693-1780), his library was sold at auction beginning on 4 Nov. 1782, the present work is lot 170 in the auction catalogue (Utrecht, B. Wild, available online).
