[Art Deco] Balinese school, 20th cent. (Goddess Winata holding two large eggs)
Hardwood carved sculpture from the Pita Maha period, late 1930s, height 43 cm, w. a metal plate screwed on the bottom side hiding a sm. piece of blue cloth as a relic. W. several cracks, but no parts missing.
A beautiful, detailed and perhaps early example of this kind of art related to the Balinese artists' group Pita Maha, founded in 1934 with the help of the Dutch painter Rudolf Bonnet.
