German/ Austrian school, second half of the eighteenth century. Portrait of a richly dressed man

Standing figure constructed out of small parts made of embroidered cloth w. silver and gold threads and plain cloth pieces. Hand and face apparently of paper. 35 x 24 cm, on linen w. landscape in gouache, mounted on wooden panel, in old frame.

A very nice and rare example of German or Austrian folk art from ca. 1750-1800.
