Kresse, Hans G. (1921-1992). Native American Chief

Oil on canvas, signed and dated 1947 in bottom right corner. 38 x 28 cm, framed. One of only a few known oil paintings painted by Kresse.

Provenance: Discovered several decades ago at the antique market De Looier in Amsterdam. The current owner recognized its uniqueness, but lacked the finances to acquire it. He then borrowed funds from a friend, repaying the sum over a period of two years. Remarkable in its rarity, this piece has never been made public before. Not listed in van Eijck, Zwart, 2024.
