Tachibana Armor with Chrysanthemum-Stream Motif (Kikusui yoroi) and Sutra Scroll of Universal Gate Chapter (Fumonbon), from the series Four Types of Existence (Shishô no uchi), with poem by Sôkaen Takemaru. Col. woodcut, 21 x 18.5 cm, on yellowish paper. Waterst. in lower r. corner, a few chips in r. margin. A very brightly coloured copy, w. some use of gold paint. (2) Ochiai (Utagawa) Yoshiiku (1833-1904). Samurai warrior in full armour. Col. woodcut, 24.8 x 18 cm, from the series of heroes of the chronicles of the Taiheiki Eiyeden), 1867. Sm. hole in lower right corner, several tiny wormholes in lower margin and text column at left margin. -and 1 other sm. col. woodcut dep. a samurai warrior (some wormholes).
