[China. Cloisonné] Opium smoking set
China, late 19th cent., consisting of a wooden tray in brass cloisonné frame w. finely decorated handles and sides in gold on a black ground. Dimensions: 27.5 x 34 x 5 cm. The inside fitted w. 5 compartments of which 3 w. wooden lid w. sm. foo dog finials, the other compartments open and containing the small brass cloisonné burner and 6 sm. saucers. The burner, the saucers and the rim of the box marked w. monogram "CRS" in Western script, perhaps the initials of the original (possibly Euopean) owner. Some traces of use and age. -and a fine brass cloisonné plate, Ø 21.5 cm.
