Collection of three Papillons Dada, ca. 1919-1920
Three leaflets, printed black on green and brown paper. Contains 'Dada ne signifie rien', 6.9 x 10.5 cm, 'Chaque spectateur', 6.9 x 10.7 cm, and 'Taisez-vous', 6.8 x 10.7 cm. The texts on the series of broadsides are attributed to Paul Eluard and Tristan Tzara and issued by the Paris Dada group in December 1919.
The Papillons were intended for general distribution, introducing an early form of advertisement in the artistic field that would be significant for the Dada movement and the Surrealists. Marginal creasing to the green leaflets, generally in excellent state. Provenance: collection K. Schippers.
