New York, 1951. Silver gelatin print, 24 x 19 cm, framed 35 x 28.5 cm. Signed for Nelly van Doesburg, in handwriting (upper left corner) by all three artists portrayed. 'To my very young old + best friend Nelly, Hans R. and Max Ernst and Marcel' (with drawing of speechbubble).

Richter and Duchamp's writing has faded, but is still legible. The picture is published in K. Schippers Holland Dada Querido 1974, p. 53. Provenance: collection K. Schippers. *Arnold Eagle (1909 -1992) was a Hungarian-American photographer and cinematographer living in New York. He was cinematographer for Hans Richter's Dreams That Money Can Buy (1947) and photographed various dance companies from the 1930s to 1960s, including the Martha Graham Dance Company and Merce Cunningham.
