Man Ray. (Cela Vit) Portrait of Marcel Duchamp 1923, 1971

Original etching with aquatint in black ink on wove paper. Sheet 38 x 28.2 cm, image 18.8 x 15.3 cm. Signed in pencil 'Man Ray' in lower right. From an edition of 125, this copy numbered 125/125 in pencil in lower left. The plate was created and printed in 1971 at the studio of Georges Visat in Paris, and issued in the portfolio 'Monument à Christophe Colomb et à Marcel Duchamp'.

The portrait is a reworked version of a mixed media print based on a photograph made by Man Ray in 1923. Framed copy. The etching not inspected out of the frame, the sheet may have some smudging, the etching itself appears to be in fine condition. Provenance: collection K. Schippers. Exhibited at Holland Dada and the International context, Museum Dr8888, Drachten 2016. Labels on verso.
