John Cage. Curious photo sequence
Collection of 20 b/w photographic prints (possibly photographed from a projection), 23 x 30 cm. Features a sequence of images of John Cage at work, sitting at his drafting table at Wesleyan University, where he was artist-in-residence in 1960. The series was published on the back cover of 'Silence: Lectures and Writings by John Cage', published by Wesleyan University Press in 1961. (see former lot in this auction). The photographer is unknown.
Also contains a reproduced portrait of Cage (1963) by Lütfi Özkök, a Turkish-Swedish poet and photographer known for his portraits of literary figures. The prints derive from the collection of K.
Schippers, one image of the sequence was published in the special Cage issue of Barbarber No.51 March 1967, edited by K.Schippers, J. Bernlef and G. Brands. It contains an interview with Cage by Michael Kirby and Richard Schechner originally published in Tulane Drama Review Vol.10 No.2 1965, translated in Dutch. This issue is added to the lot. (total 22)
