Nicolas Garcia Uriburu (1937- 2016) was an Argentinian artist, architect, ecologist and pioneer of Land Art. In the late 1960s he took a critical stance in society's relationship with nature, and became known for his 'Colourings', using harmless microbiological colouring agents that turn radiant green when released into water. Uriburu executed two colouring projects in Antwerp, a fountain in front of the Municipal Water Service (1972) and the Bonapartedok in the old harbour (1974), commissioned by the ICC.
