Joel Fisher. Double Camouflage

Printed in a numbered edition of 100, this copy stamped 024 on the title label. Artists' book by Joel Fisher published in conjunction with the exhibition Double Camouflage held in Mansfield Ohio, October 3 - 25 (undated), 1970. Very well preserved copy.
The assemblage contains text-based works and conceptual projects. Fisher describes one of these projects in a call for participation letter: 'I am a former painter interested in expanding the boundaries of art, and ask for assistance in a significant experiment (..) Do not open any mail you receive during the week of August 10-17 1969, but store it unopened in a clear plastic box'. The replies to the letter are added, no favourable responses were received. Marcia Tucker, curator of the Whitney Museum in New York, replied that she could not participate, but would file the request under the heading 'Unclassifiable Curious Documents'.
