(The) Flue. New York, Franklin Furnace Archive, 1980-1989

Extremely rare complete set in very good condition. Contains all sixteen issues of the periodical published by the groundbreaking Franklin Furnace Archive, chief-edited by its founder Martha Wilson and produced with a changing team of editors, artists and designers. Formats varied from tabloids to posters, pamphlets, magazines and catalogues. The content was also versatile, featuring newsletters, calendars of performance events, exhibition catalogues, essays on mail art, performance art and artists' books, interviews and articles with and by contemporary artists, as well as artists' contributions. Then-emerging artists such as Ana Mendieta and David Hammons created original works for Flue. Barbara Kruger, Louise Lawler and Sherrie Levine designed some stunning covers.
