Claude Rutault. Peinture-suicide No.4
Paris, Intelligence Service Productions, 1987. Monochromatic offset print in blue, 63 x 48 cm. This copy derives from the collection of Guy Schraenen. Slight irregularities along the edges, else in excellent state.
The French conceptual painter Claude Rutault (1941-2022) made statements which he called 'definitions/methods', instructing others to execute his paintings (a collector, curator, institution or museum). The statements could refer to the colour, format and material to be used, as well as to the manner in which the work should be sold or auctioned. The 'Peinture-Suicide' series is a great sample of the statement pieces.
