[Italy] Bay of Naples with the active volcano Vesuvius in the background, 1861

Gouache, 42.5 x 62 cm, mounted at upper margin. Paper browned in areas not covered by paint, sm. marg tear to the margin, minor chip to upper right corner and sm. central damp stain.

A very nice, colourful large composition in a naive style. Comparable views from the same vantage point confirm the depiction of the 1861 eruption.
