Hildebert of Tours (also known as Hildebert of Lavardin 1055-1133) is regarded as one of the most important clergymen of the 11th cent. He is credited (although modern scholars have disputed the authorship) with the authorship of the Tractatus theologicus, one of the earliest attempts at a systematic theology within the Catholic tradition. The present edition remains the most comprehensive of his works to this day.
