[Scholte, Rob] Archival collection Scholte and affiliated and befriended artists

Extensive collection with invitations, ephemera, clippings, notes, catalogues, slides, photos, sketches, booklets by Scholte, Willem Sanders, Peer Veneman, Alderr Mantje, Harald Vugt and some related artists. Period ca. 1985-1995. It offers a great glimpse into the emergence of an important group of young painting talents from the 1980s and 1990s. *Contains o.a.: Hundreds of slides of Scholte's work and exhibitions. Photos of exhibitions by Veneman. Notes with drawings by Mantje. Various personally sent invitations. Catalogues and price lists. Numerous cuttings and overprints, mostly laid out and written by Arno Vriends who was a good friend of this wild group of artists and meticulously documented their career development.

The fact that not everyone in the established art scene was comfortable with these groundbreakers' ambitions is most evident in a letter from Wim Beeren to Vriends dated April 10, 1992: 'Met de uitkomst van het door u met mij gehouden interview ben ik niet gelukkig. (...) Ik trek mijn tekst bij deze terug als rechthebbend auteur.' A typoscript transcription by Vrieds of the interview is included. (together 2 boxes)
