[Shadow puppets. Turkey] Collection of 27 var. cut-out and perforated paper Karagöz shadow figures

Var. sizes, all w. holes strengthened w. rubber rings for operation, the human figures w. limbs hinged on threads and named in red felt-tip pen. Turkey, 2nd half 20th cent. Some parts loose, sm. lacking parts.

Nice collection, comprising the figures of Karagöz (2x, one w. Karagöz sitting in a boat w. fishing rod), Çelebi (2x, one with Çelebi sitting in a boat holding a fishing rod, a slave rowing), Baba Himmet (the largest human figure, height 63 cm), Tiryaki, Beberuhi, Hadcivad, "Fransman", Çetan, Acem, Arnavut, "watermonster", Zenne, Matiz and Lâz. The lot also contains the shapes of a mosque, a tower w. separate ladder (marked "Sirinin Köskü" in pencil), a large flower pot, a group of 3 cipresses and 5 fish. (total 27)
