[Guignol] Picture postcards and printed ephemera concerning puppetry

Collection of ca. 160 mostly French picture postcards (incl. series and some duplicates), col. lithogr. advertorial cards incl. Liebig cards and other printed ephemera, mostly on Jean Guignol, the famous puppet from Lyon, late 19th to first half 20th cent. A nice collection on this very specific subject. Comprises a.o.: (1) Jean Guignol. Aux visiteurs qui ne sont pas d'ici. Col. lithogr. picture postcard dep. a hand puppet theatre, w. fold. flap revealing a leporello w. 10 tiny. photogr. views of Lyon, not circulated. (2) Theatre Guignol. Au Bon Marché (Paris). Col. lithogr. fold. card, 12.2 x 8 cm, w. pop-up puppet emerging from a box in front of an audience on the inside. (3-14) Encyclopédie Enfantine Recommandée Pour les Écoles. Series of 12 (of ?) plays , bifolia in sm. 4to size, each w. 1-page letterpress play in 1 act by Er. Richa and a full-p. col. lithogr. illustration after G. Dascher, numb. 3-12, 14 and 15, issued by C. Charier in Saumur, ca. 1900. Each w. stamped monogram "JG" (Jean Guignol?) in upper r. corner, w. closed large or sm. tears (incl. on middle fold). Very rare. The collection comprises ca. 50 other picture postcards and a number of other items concerning Jean Guignol, the famous puppet from Lyon, or theatre named after him, incl. nice series, a number of items concerning Polichinelle, and a number of advertorial cards issued by Au Bon Marché. Also including some fine photogr. picture postcards, incl. a card showing prisoners of war (?) in front of a puppet theatre and "Poppenkast op de Dam".
