[Freemasonry] Schlesinger, Stefan (1896-1944). Symbolic Portrait of a Man
Lithograph, 1925. Signed and dated in the plate below and in pencil lower left. 47 x 35.5 cm.
Very rare early free work by the Austrian-Dutch Jewish artist and designer. The rose and the All-Seeing Eye in the star on the man's headpiece may refer to Masonic symbolism. In 1925, Schlesinger and his wife Anna Kerdijk founded 'De Loge van Volmaking' in Amsterdam. During this period, he also worked as a designer for the Maçonnieke Uitgeversmaatschappij.
Edges foxed, some foxing in image.
