Marcel Duchamp. De ou par Marcel Duchamp ou Rrose Sélavy (Boîte-en-valise)

Facsimile of the 1968 G edition of the famous Museum in a Box, conceived by Marcel Duchamp (1887-1968) between 1935 and 1941 (with revisions and additions continuing though 1968), comprising a mini- retrospective of the artist's career. Designed and edited by the artist Mathieu Mercier, supervised by the Marcel Duchamp Association. Cologne, Verlag der Buchhandlung Walther König, 2015. Glossy green cardboard portfolio, 38 x 37 x 7.8 cm, unfolds to a format of 83 x 37 x 7.8 cm. Issued in printed cardboard packaging box, 42.5 x 39 x 8.5 cm. First facsimile edition, the second issued in 2020.

Book object/ multiple containing approx. 80 three-dimensional miniatures, reproductions of ready-mades and paintings including 'Fountain', 'Nude Descending a Staircase' and 'The Large Glass'. Mercier faithfully reproduced the majority of the contents of Duchamp's original box in paper form, with all elements designed to scale. The facsimile features fold-outs, loose sheets with coloured illustrations on panels, as well as mounted sheets and die-cuts, all with title plates. In excellent condition. Weighs approx. 4 kgs.
