Free endpapers browned as usual. Edges sl. rubbed, some spotting on boards. Pages occas. (finger)soiled. Unusual variant copy: the binding uses the same boards and endpapers (Van Gelder) as the standard half cloth binding, but with more modernist decorations and typography. The yellow top edge (instead of gilt) may allude to De Stijl. Possibly a later, experimental binding.
